Biosecurity Tiers on StableStop
Why biosecurity matters
When horses travel between yards, there is a risk of spreading diseases like equine influenza, strangles, and EHV. Short-term stabling increases this risk because horses from different yards share facilities. StableStop's biosecurity tier system helps hosts demonstrate their commitment to disease prevention — and helps riders choose yards they can trust.
Bronze (Default — every listing)
All listings on StableStop include Bronze biosecurity as standard. No application needed.
- Clean stables between visiting horses
- Sufficient clean bedding
- Visiting horses grazed separately from resident horses (if turnout offered)
- Safe stables with well-draining floors
- Turn away visibly sick horses
- Annual Flu and Tetanus vaccination required for all horses
- Emergency vet contact on file
Silver
Enhanced hygiene. Requires a self-declaration application.
- Everything in Bronze, plus:
- 6-monthly Flu booster (all horses on the yard)
- Sanitisation product applied between visitors
- Photo evidence of sanitisation product submitted
- Annual re-declaration
Gold
Active biosecurity management. Requires evidence submission and platform review.
- Everything in Silver, plus:
- Pre-arrival health questionnaire sent to riders 48 hours before arrival
- Separate stabling between visiting and resident horses
- Photo evidence of separated stabling
- Platform reviews health declaration before booking advances
Diamond
Full biosecurity programme. Requires documentation and evidence.
- Everything in Gold, plus:
- Written biosecurity plan with a named biosecurity lead
- Maintained disinfection log
- Submission of biosecurity plan and lead details
- Post-stay disease monitoring (notify platform within 48 hours for 7 days after departure)
- EHV vaccination (all horses)
- Strangles screening or vaccination recommended
How to apply
From your listing, navigate to the Biosecurity Badge section and click “Apply for a Biosecurity Badge.” You will be guided through the declarations and evidence required for your chosen tier.
Badge validity
All badges are valid for 12 months from approval. You will receive a reminder email 30 days before expiry to re-apply.
What riders see
Your biosecurity tier badge appears on your listing in search results and on the listing detail page. Higher tiers build trust and can increase booking conversion.
